Frequently Asked Questions
What is psychotherapy?
"Psychotherapy involves the therapist listening to your experiences, exploring connections between your present feelings and actions and the past events. It aims to help you understand more about yourself and your relationships. Therapists have different approaches and styles of working... some will take the lead with questions, while others will support your train of thought."

What is counselling?
"Counselling helps you to look at problems you are facing now. It may focus on a specific problem like bereavement or post-natal depression or on a decision, crisis or conflict. You are encouraged to talk about the feelings you have about yourself and your situation, and the counsellor helps you find ways to tackle them."

What is life coaching?
Life coaching is essentially about self-empowerment. It is a process between you and your coach that facilitates you to take ownership of your future. Life coaching helps you to explore what you need to do in order to reach your specific goals and objectives.
How does counselling/psychotherapy help?
You can share problems with someone who is trained in listening that will be able to help you understand how past and present experiences and current behaviour may be linked. The session is a creative space in which to explore thoughts and feeling in a group or individual setting.
How will I know if it is right for me?
We will offer you an initial consultation session. We will then decide together on the next course of action. If counselling or psychotherapy is chosen, you will be offered a regular appointment, which may be once a week, or more often.
The first session will last for 50 minutes to an hour. Depending on the material discussed in the session. During this time, I will be assessing the nature of your difficulties and we will then discuss the ways to proceed. There will be ample time for you to ask questions.
